Steps is a one off concept album recorded with an analog synthesizer and step sequencer.

Way back, in 1981 I sold my beloved Honda CB500 F-K1 and purchased my first synth, a second hand Roland SH-5 and a System 104 step sequencer. Together with an old worn down tape delay it was my first baby steps in synth exploration, driving my parents crazy (sorry about that).

More than 30 years later I wanted to explore the same concept, one synth- a sequencer and multi effects. Recorded direct to two tracks with improvised manipulation of synth- effects- and mixer, no overdubs.

Recorded 2013/2014.

Analog sequencers are typically implemented with analog electronics, and play the musical notes designated by a series of knobs or sliders corresponding to each musical note (step). It is designed for both composition and live performance; users can change the musical notes at any time without regarding recording mode. And also possibly, the time-interval between each musical note (length of each step) can be independently adjustable. Typically, analog sequencer is used to generate repeated minimalistic phrases.

Für Ralph, Florian, Karl und Wolfgang.

Mind over MIDI Kristiansund, Norway

Ambient music for daydreamers and nighthinkers, inspired by nature.

If you can picture the very furthest, coldest, darkest part of Norway, that's where Mind over MIDI resides. If you want to get an idea of what it's like there, and can do without the frostbite, then this is the perfect solution.

Produce sweeping, icy synthscapes, with digital snowflakes.
